How it was born?
Youtube was founded on 14 Feb. 2005 by Chad Hurley, Jawed Karim and Steve Chen, who previously worked for PayPal. There are numerous rumors about how the idea of Youtube was born. One of them is that they realized there was no platform to upload the videos they took in a party Chen gave in San Francisco. While Karim rejects this theory, cause he didn’t join the party, Chen approves.
According to Karim; this is how the idea was born: There wasn’t any platform that people could access videos such as the ones of the accident Janet Jackson had in Superbowl Show in 2004, or the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami videos. And thus, the idea was born.
The first version of Youtube looked like this in 2005.
